GaDuGi Safe Center in Lawrence announces Girls Garden

Are you familiar with the GaDuGi Safe Center here in Lawrence?

Ga-Du-Gi is from the Cherokee language meaning “working together in a community sense”. Their mission is to work with the community toward a common goal of ending sexual violence.
They do sponsor events and programs that contribute to the welfare of our community.

They are currently sponsoring a gardening group ” Girls Garden”, this group is for all women and girls from age 5 on up. The event is held at the United Way building on Sundays from 1pm to 3pm.

For more information on this event you may contact the GaDuGi Safe Center at 785-843-8985, Lisa Parr is one of the facilitator of this event.

I did not get many details about it so please contact Lisa or the center for additional information, but it sounds like it could a lot of fun to garden or learn to garden with like minded women and in the process make new friends and not to forget harvest your own vegetables or flowers in a few weeks.

The message I received from Lisa did not mention volunteer needs, but I am sure that if you are a gardener and would like to share your knowledge and skills they would be more than happy to have you participate.
