Lawrence Play Areas and Parks for Children
Today is a glorious day in Lawrence Kansas, and all of a sudden we have this magical feeling that there is an end to winter. We quickly think about going to the park at least the kids do. They have had enough of the cold and bad weather. Although I admit mine had a great time in the snow a few days ago.
So what are the best play areas for kids in Lawrence?
We tend to like to go to Perry Park, also known as”Dad” Perry Park, not because it is the greatest but because of proximity. It is a nice community park, located on a 45 acres land, with wooded areas and nature trails. It has a couple of shelters, ideal for a quick picnic. For parties the shelters can be reserved through Lawrence Parks and Rec Services.

The park also has a few amenities like basketball and tennis courts, but what attract the little kids the most is of course the play ground equipment. Any park wanting regular visitors must include restrooms to the list of amenities and Perry Park does.
You Will find Perry Park on Monterey Way not very far from 15th Street
Now it is your turn, please add your favorite park in the comment on this page and I will add it to the list as well as post photos for it. If you want to provide some photos please send them to me by email and I will post what I can. Let’s make this a place where a parent can find a new park to take the kids to.

If you plan to spend some time with the kids in Manhattan, you may want to try Cico park, especially in the summer. The pool is great for toddlers and preschoolers. They have a great wading pool with a fountain that has a latched gate for safety. When my kids were younger we spent hours there. They have a pretty good snack bar, but if you want to keep it healthy, bring your own.

Charlotte, Thank you for your comment and for pointing out a great place for people visiting Manhattan. I agree with you that Cico is a very nice area, with a lot for the kids.
